Dragon Tree from the Canary Islands

The tree trunk has a diameter of about 4 m and a height of up to 20m. Sharp leaves are gathered in beams on massive branches. Thus, which flows from the trunk, changes its color due to the air and looks like blood or jelly.

Relict tree has an interesting feature - it does not have growth rings. Every 15 years the tree blossoms, this allows establishing approximate age of the plant. During its lifetime, a tree goes through the stages of youth, maturity and aging. The young age ends after 35 years, and then fruits appear. The scars on the trunk disappear forming massive branches. Thus begins to appear only in old age, which can be one century or even thousands of years.
